What is an SMS strategy?

Let's start with the basics. According to Wikipedia, a strategy is a "plan to achieve one or more long-term or overall goals under conditions of uncertainty."

An SMS strategy is a plan for how you're going to achieve your goals with text messaging.

A good SMS strategy should include:

1. A set of time-bound goals for what you want to achieve with SMS
2. A way to measure success against your goals
3. A plan for growing your SMS subscriber list
4. A schedule of campaigns (a campaign calendar)
5. A plan for behavioral messaging and automations (e.g. send a personalized text when your products come back in stock)
6. A customer support plan (because people will respond!)
